Once in a while we&#8217;ll actually gear a vacation to a specific location, just to check it out.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deschutesbrewery.com\/pubs\/bend\/\" target=\"_blank\">Deschutes Brewery Public House <\/a>in downtown Bend, Oregon is such a place.\u00a0 Their beer is legendary quality and lucky for me is even available in my home state (or Commonwealth if you want to be particular) of Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/travel-log\/snap-shots\/deschutes-brewery-public-house-bend-oregon\/deschutes-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2775\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2775\" src=\"http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-1-650x407.jpg\" alt=\"Deschutes #1\" width=\"650\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-1-650x407.jpg 650w, http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-1-768x480.jpg 768w, http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-1.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While visiting my friends out in Oregon, Jeff and I had planned to cruise over to the John Day Fossil Beds and en route we&#8217;d planned to hit Deschutes, which we did.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 1044 NW Bond street this wonderful destination offers world-class beer (19 taps) and a delightful food menu as well. \u00a0Many of the ingredients come from local farmers so you know it&#8217;s fresh and tasty.\u00a0 They&#8217;re open seven days a week for your eating &amp; drinking pleasure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/travel-log\/snap-shots\/deschutes-brewery-public-house-bend-oregon\/deschutes-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2776\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2776\" src=\"http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-2-650x407.jpg\" alt=\"Deschutes #2\" width=\"650\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-2-650x407.jpg 650w, http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-2-768x480.jpg 768w, http:\/\/western-traveler.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Deschutes-2.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To be blunt, this isn&#8217;t your grandmother&#8217;s restaurant. Here you&#8217;ll find some exotic and original dishes like no other.\u00a0 You can choose from such\u00a0items as: Salt &amp; Pepper Calamari, a Sausage and Cheese platter, various soups &amp; salads, a Salmon BLT, unique and wonderful burgers (including Elk), various meat dishes, a nice assortment of other sandwiches and tons of mouth-watering deserts.<\/p>\n<p>Just for your information, there&#8217;s another Deschutes in Portland if you find yourself closer to that one, bet it&#8217;s good too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As any frequent visitor to Western-Traveler knows, food and drink are a big part of my traveling experience.
